Feeling the chill of winter? Well what you need is some of my porridge which will heat you up from the inside so you’ll be glowing like the Ready Brek kid. I’m a bit of a ginger addict but if you think it’ll be too strong for you, stick to 1/2 teaspoon of ginger. It is quite a coarse porridge but I think this keeps you fuller for longer.
50g best quality jumbo oats
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon milled linseed
1/2 teaspoon tahini paste
1 teaspoon honey
150 ml water
Place oats and water in a pan and bring to the boil. Cook briefly. You need a fairly watery porridge as the linseed soaks up the water.
Pour into a bowl and add honey, tahini, linseed and ginger and stir well.
I find normal porridge rather bland now and my early morning ginger kick fortifies me well against the wintery blasts. (Does wonders for the digestive system as well… but don’t overdo the linseed or you might not be spending too much time outside if you get my drift.)
